Tanya Solomon

Experienced violists (Tanya Solomon & Scott Slapin). Orchestral musicians, recitalists and recording artists.
Teaching Philosophy

We draw upon a variety of sources (Suzuki and traditional methods), and cover scales, etudes and solo repertoire to ensure that the fundamentals of your technique are in place and not holding you back from advancing to the next level. We have decades of teaching experience in helping others achieve their goals viol(in)istically as well as decades of professional performing experience and expertise that we can pass on to you in a patient and relaxed environment.

Experience

Tanya Solomon has been involved with music for over 30 years and has taught at all levels, from young children to adults. While maintaining a private studio, she also taught at the University of Tennessee (Chattanooga). Tanya has the experience of coaching chamber music and working with young musicians in youth orchestras around the country.

As a violin and viola teacher, Scott Slapin has been on the adjunct faculty of elite private preparatory schools such as the Kent Place School and the Wilson School in northern New Jersey. He is a former Director of Strings at the Westminster Academy, the gifted and talented arts magnet school for the Elizabeth (NJ) Public Schools, and he has taught violin and viola privately for more than twenty years.

The Slapin-Solomon Duo has performed throughout the U.S., including appearances at the International Viola Congress and as artists in residence at the Montalvo Arts Center in California. Scott and Tanya won Best Chamber Music Performance for 2008 at New Orleans' Tribute to the Classical Arts.
