Developing musicianship on flute is rewarding and fun; each lesson is a welcome opportunity for Sue to share the joy of music with Flute Keys students and their families. Individualization and positive attitudes, combined with achievable challenges and a commitment to excellence, are the keys to building skills and experiencing musical enjoyment and success, as years of teaching have consistently shown.
Sue's students achieve high chair seating at school, audition into exclusive local ensembles, and are frequently selected for district and all-state honors ensembles. They have earned scholarships to universities and music camps, as well as winning and participating in local solo competitions, and highest ratings at solo and ensemble contest, including "Best of the Day." Sue's playing and teaching experiences over the years include: former principal flute with Belleville Philharmonic, solo performances in various venues, ensembles, orchestra, band, orchestra pit for musicals.
Born to a band director, Music Education flute major at Illinois Wesleyan University, playing experiences. She continually hones her teaching and playing skills by attending symposia, including workshops and performances given by great flutists, such as James Galway, and the University of Illinois’ own Jonathan Keeble.
