Robert Hitz

I'm an award-winning pianist, composer and master teacher who loves to teach improvisation.
Teaching Philosophy

Hello, I am a master teacher focusing on the classical repertoire along with a very creative approach to improvisation and composition. I help students to achieve their interests of music rather than focusing on teaching one particular method. Classes are tailored to the student and constantly evolving. This has led me to work in a variety of mediums and styles including Jazz, improvisation, rock and blues. This approach also enhances an understanding and love of classical music.

Experience

I work with students from beginners to professionals with a focus on helping classical musicians learn to improvise. I have taught at universities and colleges in workshops and seminars as well as being partner in a Community Music School and teaching in my private studio.

My student writing and performing group F2FC has members from 8 to 80 years of age and has presented over 140 new works in recitals, concerts, cabarets to fully staged original musicals. My interactive improvisation sessions and concerts are musically dynamic and fun!
