My goal is to create an environment in which students thrive and enjoy making music. I'm interested in how you can become happily involved with the piano, or deepen an interest already begun.
We use whatever methods inspire you, including the standard Conservatory Methods as well as Piano by Number. I'm not so much interested in "methods" as I am in your reaction to them.
It is very important you feel comfortable with the pace of the lessons.

“If you're looking. This is the one. He's sharp, experienced, wise. Very comfortable to learn from. He knows that what motivates you most is your heart. That's what music is all about. He knows the discipline. Can apply it. Also relate it in an easy way to make it clear to you that you must, if you want to do this or that. I can't speak more highly of him.”5Bianca M.
“John is an outstanding piano teacher. We were looking for someone who would encourage the love of music in our child and tailor her lessons around her strengths. She has a terrific ear and doesn't love to read, and rather than force her to read music and play below her level, John recognized her ability and teaches her mostly by ear while continuing to grow her reading ability.”5Kathy S.
“John makes piano fun. My kids laugh while they learn. They have picked up familiar pieces quickly, and that has made learning to play piano painless and enjoyable.”5Don S.
“John is an excellent piano teacher. If it wasn't for him I would have never learned all of the piano pieces I know. One of the most important things I have learned was to play the piano with a soft touch. It really brings out the emotion in the piece. I started lessons with him when I was in 8th grade. Now im a senior in high school and will be continuing my weekly lesson with John.”
