About The Service »

The ZOEN service is an online music teaching community where music teachers can connect with and conduct live lessons for students, and students and their parents can search and identify teachers in numerous musical disciplines and instruments for lessons.

In order to provide this Service for you, we need to collect certain personal information from our users. We understand that users may have some questions about how we secure and use their information and how they may protect and control their privacy. This Privacy Policy describes the information we collect, how we protect your information, and how we use and disclose such information. We want users to feel comfortable with the way we treat your information and hope to become part of your musical education.

Children and Minors »

The Service is not intended for use by minors under the age of eighteen (18). We do not allow minors to register for the Service or disclose personal information to us. If we learn that a child under the age of 18 has provided us with personal information, we will promptly take reasonable and appropriate actions to remove such user and delete any personal information from our servers. In order for a minor to participate in lessons through the Service, a parent or guardian must register and provide permission. If you are a parent, you may contact us at to review any personal information we may have unknowingly collected about your minor child and upon request, we will take reasonable steps to delete this information from the Service. However, please note that we will archive recordings of all Lessons for safety and security reviews. If your child has taken one or more lessons, we reserve the right to disclose these recordings in certain limited circumstances – please see our Terms of Use for more information.

Information you provide

When you sign up for the Service, we ask you for some basic personal information. This includes personally identifying information such as your name, payment account information (if applicable), and email address. If you are registering as an Instructor, you will be required to provide additional personal information so we may verify your identity and perform a limited background check (see our Terms of Use). We may also contact you by telephone as part of the Instructor registration process. As an Instructor, you may choose to provide additional information regarding your musical and teaching experience and expertise, instruments for which you may offer instruction, musical tastes and other professional information you may deem relevant or otherwise wish to include in your Instructor Profile.

Student profiles are not intended to be publicly viewable or accessible; however, we cannot guarantee that no person or entity will be able to circumvent our practices or protections. You may update or change your account or profile information through the Service at any time.

As part of the Service, we record Lessons conducted through the Service and we store and archive all such recordings. We will use and disclose recordings to provide the Service to you and as otherwise disclosed in this Privacy Policy and in our Terms of Use.

We may provide surveys and evaluation forms to assess our Service or Instructors. We use information gathered through surveys and evaluations to improve and enhance our Service. We may disclose generalized evaluation results to Instructors so that they may improve their instruction and performance, but we do not disclose the identity of Students participating in such evaluations unless we tell you otherwise in the evaluation request.

How we use and share Information »

If you are an Instructor, we use your information in order to make the appropriate payments to you for Lessons conducted.

We share your information as necessary within the Service and to Instructors or Students with whom you have made connections so you can arrange and conduct your Lessons. Please note once you have contacted an Instructor or Student, we cannot control how the other user may use any information which you may provide and we hereby disclaim any liability associated with such use or disclosure. As an Instructor, your Profile will be publicly accessible to all users and visitors to our site.

We may use your information to improve our services or to notify you of service, products, events, promotions or other happenings which we believe may be of interest to you. We may customize and deliver to you on the Service advertisements for products or services based on information you knowingly provide (including profile information) and/or your behavior on the Service, such as Instructor searches you conduct. We will not provide personally identifiable information to any advertisers, but if you enter the advertiser site or respond to a survey or other request by an advertiser, any information you provide to such advertiser will no longer be governed by this Privacy Policy but will be subject to the advertiser’s privacy and other policies.

We disclose information to our service providers that work on our behalf or with us to provide the Service. We do not permit these providers to use your information except as necessary to support our service.
